How to Show or Hide Widgets on Specific WordPress Pages

You are here:

Components are an inevitable aspect of a WordPress website. Components can provide additional functionality to your pages. The primary purpose of a component is that it will be displayed on every page of your website. While this can be advantageous, there are times when it may create a negative impression. Have you ever encountered such a situation during your blog development? This tutorial will explain how to display/ hide components on specific WordPress pages.

What is a Component?

A component is a block that can perform specific functions on your website. You can place these components in areas such as sidebars, footers, etc. Below is an example of a calendar component. The most attractive feature of a component is that it will appear on any page of your website. However, this may sometimes have a negative impact on your website.

Can you imagine how it would look if there’s a calendar component on your gallery page? There is no way to determine on which page a component should be displayed. This is the default setting. However, in this tutorial, we will show/ hide components on the pages you desire. We will achieve this with the help of a plugin called “Component Context”. Another advantage is that you can manage each component individually. You can choose which component should be displayed on which pages.

Steps to Hide/ Show Components

1) As mentioned earlier, we need to install a WordPress plugin called “Component Context”. You can follow the steps described in this tutorial to install the plugin: https://www.webhostingpeople.web/ideas/kb/how-to-install-plugins-in-wordpress/

2) Now, we can configure which component should be displayed on a specific page. The details are given below. Please remember that you need to perform these actions within the WordPress dashboard itself. Go to Appearance >> Components from the dashboard.
